Logos

In this assignment, we were supposed to create logos for three different types of businesses.

My logos utilized special fonts, stamps, and tracings of images relevant to the business. My first logo is for Downward Dog's Yoga Studio and features an om symbol as well as a dog. My second logo is for Karma Tattoo & Piercing and features a tattoo-style font and a tracing of a classic tattoo design. Finally, my last logo is for La Femme Boheme, which is intended to be a bohemian style clothing store. This one features whimsical fonts and a natural-bohemian feather graphic.

For this project I learned to utilize a lot of the fonts and brushes available for use in AI. I think I was able to apply them to this project successfully. The viewer can clearly tell what type of business each logo is for, and they all have a unique and distinctive look.

If I could redo any of these images, I would probably add more color to the first two. While the last logo is intended to be completely black and white, I think the others could have used some brighter, bolder colors.

Blog post: propaganda

For this project, we had to create propaganda. We were supposed to use big, bold colors and constructivist themes.

I think I was successful in utilizing bold colors and getting a message across. While someone who is unaware of the controversy surrounding Nestle may not initially understand what the poster is referring to, I think the image is provocative enough that it would encourage such a person to do some research. It introduces the viewer to a potentially new concept and illustrates the contrast between the positive face Nestle puts on and the behind the scenes reality. I believe that satisfies the criteria for successful propaganda.

I could have done more in the constructivist theme. If I were to recreate this image, I would probably use bolder graphics to draw attention to the text in the poster, especially the slogan at the top.
